English learning app · Package com.educare.englishlearning · Last updated: 4 October 2026
[01] Information You Enter
An account is required to use Educare. You can sign in with your Google account, or with an email address and password. We then store your email address, your name as shown on your Google account (Google sign-in only), and an account ID. Your password is handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see it.
We also store a copy of your learning progress: lessons passed, quiz results, words under review, XP, streak, badges, settings and writing drafts. This is used only to save your progress and restore it when you sign in on another device. A copy of your progress is also kept on your phone, so the course works offline after you have signed in.
[02] Device Permissions
The app declares only these permissions:
• Internet: to sign in and save your progress if you have an account, to look up a word that is not in the app's own dictionary, to download a translation model the first time you use a language, and for optional online voices.
• Notifications: for the optional daily reminder, and for come-back reminders if you have not studied for a few days (at most three, and you can turn them off in Settings). Both are created on your device.
• Run at startup: to restore those reminders after the phone restarts.
• Billing: to offer the yearly subscription through Google Play.
Educare does not request access to your contacts, location, files, photo library, or direct access to the camera or microphone hardware.
App Functionality
[03]
Camera & AI Reader
The AI Reader lets you photograph printed English so the app can read it aloud and explain the words. Educare asks Android to open your own camera app, and you decide whether to take the picture. The photo is analyzed on your device by Google ML Kit's text recognition. The image is never uploaded and is discarded once the text has been read.
If you tap a word that is not in the app's dictionary, the app can look it up online. Only that single word is sent, to the free dictionary service dictionaryapi.dev; never the photo, the sentence or anything about you. You can turn this off in Settings.
[04]
Speech Recognition
Speaking practice uses Android's standard voice input. Your speech is handled by the speech recognition provider on your device, which on most phones is a Google service under its own privacy policy. Educare receives only the recognized text, compares it with the target phrase, and discards it. We do not record, store or send audio.
[05]
Text-to-Speech
Words and sentences are spoken by the text-to-speech engine installed on your device. If you choose an online voice in Settings, the sentence being spoken is sent to Google's speech service. Only lesson content is spoken, never your personal information.
Security & Privacy
[06] THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
We do not sell, rent or share your personal information. There are no advertising networks, no analytics and no crash-reporting services in the app. These services process data for us or for you:
• Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore): stores your account and saved progress. Data is stored in Google Cloud's Doha region.
• dictionaryapi.dev: receives a single word when you look one up online.
• Google Play: Billing handles purchases (we learn only whether a subscription is active), and In-App Review handles ratings (we never see what you wrote).
• Google ML Kit and Android services: text recognition and translation run on your device; speech recognition and online voices are handled by Google as described above.
If the app ever crashes, it can offer to email you a crash report to send us. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send that email.
[07] SECURITY MEASURES
Your data travels over encrypted connections and is stored encrypted by Google Firebase. Access rules on our database allow each account to read and change only its own record; no other user can see it. The copy on your phone sits in Android's private app storage, which no other app can read. Payments are handled by Google Play, never by us.
[08] CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Educare is intended for learners aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. There is no advertising, no chat and no way to contact other users. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
[09]
Purchases
Educare is free to download, and the first 7 days of full access cost nothing and need no card. Continuing after that requires a yearly subscription. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your card or billing details; the app only learns whether your Google account has an active subscription. Your subscription is not stored in your Educare account. You can manage or cancel it at any time in the Google Play Store.
[10]
Data Retention & Deletion
• We keep your email and saved progress until you delete your account.
• Delete your account in the app: open Account, then Delete account. This deletes your account and the progress saved in it right away. The progress on your phone stays until you remove it there; to keep using Educare you will need to sign in with a new account.
• Delete by email: if you cannot open the app, email info@educareapp.ae from the address you signed in with, with the subject "Delete my account". We delete the account and its data within 30 days and confirm by email.
• On your phone: Settings, Reset all progress, or uninstalling the app, removes the copy on your phone.
• Signing out stops saving to your account but does not delete it. To keep using Educare, sign in again.
